Position Summary:

This part-time position is responsible for coordination and training of volunteers and interns in the advocacy program.  The coordinator provides crisis intervention, advocacy and referral services to victims of domestic violence by phone and in the office as needed.  The coordinator supervises HAWC hotline volunteers and interns. The Volunteer coordinator also arranges and facilitates scheduled meetings and presentations on the North Shore.

Position Experience:

Commitment/experience working with victims of domestic violence

Experience providing direct services to victims of abuse including safety planning, advocacy and support group facilitation

Excellent interpersonal skills with volunteers, staff, clients and the community

Excellent oral, written and public speaking skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Must have a valid MA license and reliable vehicle

Bilingual/Bicultural preferred

Position Details:       

Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Actively recruits volunteers and interns for all programs within HAWC
  • Creates and maintains volunteer database
  • Facilitates Outreach and Education Team meetings
  • Organizes and facilitates 27 hour volunteer trainings
  • Point person for external speaking requests and training
  • Provides training to other community members and agencies
  • Completes statistical data forms for every client/agency contact
  • Implements on-going trainings for volunteers and interns
  • Participates in after-hours On-Call
  • Attends regular supervision, team meetings and all staff meetings
  • Puts into practice workplace and team values
  • Able to flex hours to meet position responsibilities

Direct Service

  • Manage the on-call schedule
  • Provide intakes, crisis intervention, risk assessments, safety planning, advocacy and referral services to clients seeking services as needed
  • Work with the Director of Programs to network and build relationships with other agencies and community leaders related to HAWC’s programs service areas
  • Identify outreach opportunities and support the team in outreach efforts
