Join HAWC for Racing for Change, our first-ever virtual race! October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this is a great opportunity to get some exercise, while also making a difference for domestic violence survivors in your community. The best part? You can do it on your own time and with your favorite type of exercise!
Here’s how it works:
Register to participate. You can choose the option to complete exercise that is equivalent to a 5K or 10K, and you can reach this goal by doing any sort of exercise you like, such as running, walking, biking, or swimming. Once you pay the registration fee and provide your biographical information, you have officially signed up! Go at your own pace. You can reach your goal in increments or all at once. Sign up today, and you may be eligible for one of our fun prizes!
You will have between now and November 15 to complete your committed task. Track your progress using the honor system. If you want to share your progress with us, you can do so by joining this group on Facebook and posting in the comments. When the Racing for Change window closes, we will send you an athletic tech shirt as a token of our appreciation for participating in the event!
Participants are encouraged to let their friends, family and colleagues know about their participation and try to get donations. You can share this link to encourage donations! While this is not a requirement to participate, any contributions raised would directly benefit HAWC’s clients who are seeking to eliminate domestic violence from their lives.
We encourage participants to have a photo taken of themselves (or, selfies are welcome!) while completing part of the exercise. Please email your photo to firstname.lastname@example.org, and you might be featured on HAWC’s social media pages!
Now, let’s race toward change.
