This year HAWC celebrated 35 years of creating safe communities by providing advocacy to victims of domestic violence within 23 cities and towns of the North Shore. For 21 years the community has been raising awareness of this important issue by participating in the Walk for HAWC. Last year HAWC added a run to the event which now attracts over1,500 north shore residents, from all ages and backgrounds.
The Walk/Run for HAWC is truly a community effort and HAWC could not do what it does every day without the support of everyone in the community. To date, the 2013 Walk/Run has raised $125,000. The top five fundraising teams are:
- St. John’s Beverly Farms $7,536
- Friends and Family of Kim Pelusi $6,510
- St. John’s Prep $3,595
- North Shore Rape Crisis Center $2,140
- North Shore Community College $1,440
