We know that the legal system can be intimidating and confusing. That’s why HAWC’s legal team has developed a comprehensive program to best meet our client’s legal needs. We offer free weekly legal clinics in our Salem and Lynn offices, during which clients can seek out the advice of a certified attorney, and in some cases, HAWC offers direct representation. Legal consultations are available to active clients in our various outreach offices by appointment. Clients should go through their advocate to book an appointment.

We also place volunteers in local courts. Our volunteers are qualified to help survivors of domestic violence navigate certain complex tasks, such as filing a restraining order, in the following courts:

Gloucester District Court
Peabody District Court
Salem District Court
Salem Probate Court
Lynn District Court

If you need to go to one of these locations and would like to speak to an advocate, please call our hotline at 1.800.547.1649 to confirm when a HAWC representative is scheduled to be there.

Are you a local attorney who is interested in joining HAWC’s pro-bono attorney panel? Please contact Sara Stanley, attorney director, at 978.744.2299 ext. 312 or saras@hawcdv.org.
