Healing Abuse Working for Change, Inc. creates social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression. Since 1978, HAWC has provided free services and support to survivors of domestic abuse on Massachusetts’ North Shore to help them make informed, independent decisions about their futures. General Description

This full time, 40 hours/week position is responsible for supporting children who have been impacted by domestic violence and developing HAWC’s ability to support these children and their families. A primary responsibility of this position is facilitating administration of HAWC’s Parent Child Trauma Recovery Program (PCTRP), an interdisciplinary team of trauma-informed, community-based therapists and HAWC Avocates using a parent/child relational model of psychotherapy and advocacy to promote healing from domestic violence.
This is a salaried position with annual compensation in the range of $48,000 – $50,000 with consideration given to bilingual language skills (compensated at $1,500/year) and experience. This position is hybrid with some remote and in-office work required. This position is supervised by HAWC’s Director of Programs and Community Partnerships. The work schedule will be flexible with a requirement to attend all required PCTRP and staff meetings. A $500 bonus is available after three months of employment in good standing and a second bonus of $500 available after six months of employment in good standing.

Position Responsibilities:

● Plan and facilitate a variety of programming for children including story time, therapy dog visits, Creative Coping and Parenting Through Challenges in collaboration with other HAWC staff and volunteers
● Plan and facilitate monthly family activities at the shelter in collaboration with the shelter manager
● Work with Director of Programs and Community Partnerships to create and adapt services to meet needs of specific client populations
● Attend and co-facilitate team meetings for Salem, Lynn and Gloucester PCTRP teams
● Identify and develop methods and services to support children impacted by domestic violence
● Stay current on local services for children and make appropriate referrals to same
● Network and collaborate with other organizations supporting children impacted by domestic violence
● Train and support advocates in screening and generating client referrals to HAWC Children’s Services Program
● Foster and steward the relationship between HAWC and PCTRP clinical partners and clinicians
● Participate in the recruitment and training of PCTRP clinicians
● Input programmatic service data into Empower DB, HAWC’s data management system
● Helpcollect and prepare programmatic information for grant applications and reporting
● Meet with shelter and community based parents to discuss best programming for their families; complete referrals as needed

Position Requirements:

● Participate in HAWC’s 27-hour training of new staff and volunteers
● Participate in hotline coverage rotation (roughly six-eight weeks per year, Mon-Fri 8am-9pm, additional stipend provided)
● Attend regular supervision, team meetings and all staff meetings
● Able to flex hours to meet position responsibilities, including occasional after-hours facilitation and training
● Must have reliable access to transportation
● Familiarity with basic computer/internet use

Preferred Characteristics:

● Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
● Commitment to and experience providing trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic violence
● Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
● Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion amongst clients, team members and community members
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
● Community networking skills
● Experience facilitating groups
