Healing Abuse Working for Change, Inc., creates social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression. Since 1978, HAWC has provided free services and support to survivors of domestic abuse on Massachusetts’ North Shore to help them make informed, independent decisions about their futures. General Description

This full time, 40 hours/week position is responsible for developing and delivering information and education to community members and partners on intimate partner violence, trauma-informed care and HAWC services. This position is responsible for conducting outreach, developing relationships and connecting the diverse communities of the North Shore to HAWC’s services.
This is a salaried position with annual compensation in the range of $44,000 – $48,000 with consideration given to bilingual language skills (compensated at $1,500/year) and experience. This position is hybrid with some remote and in-office work required. This position is supervised by HAWC’s Manager of Community Collaboration. The work schedule will be flexible with a requirement to host community trainings after 5pm and on weekends as requested by partners. A $500 bonus is available after three months of employment in good standing and a second bonus of $500 available after six months of employment in good standing.

Position Responsibilities:

● Develop, implement and deliver organizational outreach and education programs and activities that are responsive to the age, culture, language and needs of specific community audiences, including children and teens
● Collaborate with team members to develop and implement local campaigns for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and other relevant awareness campaigns
● Assist with social media presence
● Input programmatic outreach & training data into Empower DB, HAWC’s data management system
● Assist with the development and delivery of HAWC’s Pre-Service Training
● Helps collect and prepare programmatic information for grant applications and reporting
● Collaborate with and support the Children’s Services Advocate in the planning and facilitation of programming for children impacted by domestic violence
● Represents HAWC at various community events, coalition meetings and roundtable meetings
● Reports back to the HAWC team with the content of community meetings and other feedback gathered on effectiveness of HAWC services, gaps in services and community needs
● Promotes HAWC services to appropriate individuals and stakeholders
● Plans, organizes and executes outreach events and listening sessions for potential and existing HAWC clients
● Develops relationships with community leaders and stakeholders for the purpose of furthering HAWC’s mission
● Completes evaluations after each presentation or training
● Collaborates with and supports HAWC’s Director of Programs and Community Partnerships, and Manager of Community Collaboration on various projects

Position Requirements:

● Bilingual in Spanish & English required
● Participate in HAWC’s 27-hour training of new staff and volunteers
● Participate in hotline and backup coverage rotation (roughly six-eight weeks per year, Mon-Fri 8am-9pm, additional stipend provided)
● Attend regular supervision, team meetings and all staff meetings
● Able to flex hours to meet position responsibilities
● Must have reliable access to transportation
● Familiarity with basic computer/internet use,
Preferred Characteristics:
● Experience with public speaking and presenting to groups, including, if bilingual, experience presenting in that language
● Familiarity with PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva or the equivalent
● Commitment to and experience providing trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic violence
● Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
● Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion amongst clients, team members and community members
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
● Community networking skills
