Domestic Violence Advocate

Position Title: Domestic Violence Advocate                                             Application Deadline: 07/06/14

Team:   Direct Services                                                                              Reports To:    Lynn Coordinator

 

Position Summary:

This full-time position provides crisis intervention, advocacy and referral services to victims of domestic violence in our Lynn Office.

 

Position Experience: 

  • Bilingual/Bicultural
  • Commitment/experience working with victims of domestic violence
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and crisis intervention
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to promoting cultural competency and social justice values
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a health care setting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Position Details:

  • Provide support, crisis intervention, advocacy and information and referral services to victims of domestic violence.
  • Complete intakes and follow up sessions with clients.
  • Provide follow-up telephone calls and services to victims as needed
  • Completes statistical paper work for each client contact
  • Complete quarterly and annual grant reports for VAWA
  • Facilitate support groups: Acculturation & Domestic Violence 101 (including one after hours)
  • Conduct occasional presentations for staff and service recipients of local agencies
  • Participate in HAWC’s 40 hour training of new staff and volunteers
  • Participate in coalition building meetings with other local agencies, such as the DV Task Force, the Lynn High Risk Team, DCF, and others
  • Attends regular supervision, team meetings and all staff meetings
  • Participates in after-hours on-call rotation
  • Able to flex hours to meet position responsibilities
