HAWC is thrilled that you’ve expressed an interest in volunteering!
Opportunities vary throughout the year, but we always need folks to volunteer on the hotline, as a court advocate, and/or to spend time with children at the shelter. For these direct service roles, volunteers participate in 27 hours of live, virtual training during which they gain valuable skills, engage in thoughtful reflection and discussion, and explore current trends and thinking to work with DV/IPV survivors. We ask for at least a year’s commitment for direct service roles.
What’s Needed Right Now?
- Volunteers for the hotline and court advocacy teams.
- Volunteers to assist with child care for survivors with court hearings (at the courthouse).
- Assistance with agency events and fundraising activities (annual Holiday Drive, Walk for HAWC, Working to Heal Breakfast).
- Office and Admin projects, both short and longer term (requires some computer experience).
- Volunteer Ambassadors for the Community Outreach Advocacy Team (activities vary from distributing agency materials to representing HAWC at community based events, and helping boost the agency’s social media presence).
