Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation Sponsors 2015 Walk as Lead Sponsor

March 2, 2015 //  by Goodwin Suzanne

EasternBank

Eastern Bank recently partnered with HAWC (Healing Abuse Working for Change) by becoming the Presenting Sponsor for the upcoming 23rd WALK for HAWC on April 26, 2015 in Salem, Mass. The generous sponsorship is one of many contributions the organization has given to HAWC over the past 20 years; once again Eastern Bank is reinforcing the agency’s ability to provide free, confidential services to domestic violence survivors in 23 cities and towns across the North Shore.

“Healing Abuse Working for Change relies on the support raised from the annual walk to serve our clients. Eastern Bank’s extremely generous sponsorship of this signature event will make a direct impact on the lives of women, men and children who seek our help,” said Anthony DiPietro, executive director of HAWC. “We are so grateful to Eastern Bank for demonstrating a commitment to a healthier community by sponsoring our event.”

The event—HAWC’s largest fundraiser—is a 3-mile walk beginning and ending in the Salem Common, and is seeking to raise more than $100,000 to benefit the agency’s variety of services, including a 24-hour hotline, support groups, individual, legal and hospital advocacy, a shelter program, community education, and a Parent-Child Trauma Recovery program.

“Eastern Bank is committed to serving the people, businesses and nonprofits that make up our newly expanded footprint in Massachusetts and New Hampshire,” said Laura Kurzrok, executive director of Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation. “We are passionate about violence prevention and proud to support HAWC, which is doing this work in Massachusetts’ North Shore on a daily basis.”

The walk is expected to attract nearly a thousand participants, some of whom may be survivors of domestic violence. The event is an opportunity for those affected by this issue to take a stand against domestic abuse and raise awareness.
