Executive Director Sara Stanley Wins Diamond Award

September 24, 2021 //  by Goodwin Suzanne

Congratulations to Sara Stanley, HAWC’s Executive Director, for being named one of six inaugural recipients of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce’s Diamond Awards, recognizing extraordinary women leaders in business who make an impact on the community. Sara and her fellow recipients were honored for demonstrating a commitment for leading with purpose, empowering women, and serving others.

Sara was nominated for the award by Paul Kurker, Vice President & Team Leader, Commercial Banking at Eastern Bank, who also serves on HAWC’s Board of Directors. Paul made the nomination to recognize Sara’s long-standing passion for supporting survivors of abuse and her immense leadership strength since she moved into the Executive Director role of the agency in 2018.

An attorney by trade, Sara first became involved with the movement to end domestic violence by volunteering at a shelter program during law school. Since then, Sara has worked tirelessly to support survivors of abuse and to grow HAWC’s programming to best meet their needs. In addition to calmly leading the agency through an unprecedented global pandemic, in her time at HAWC, Sara has also grown our pro bono attorney network and legal team and led the charge to expand our Parent Child Trauma Recovery Program to the Cape Ann community.

We are so proud of Sara and the other extraordinary women business leaders who also received this honor!

Read more about Sara and the 2021 Diamond Award Recipients in the North Shore Chamber’s latest issue of Impact magazine. (To read Sara’s profile, visit pages 38-39.)
